The Student Union was formed in September 2013 with a model statute based on established Rwanda practice. The SU has commitment to student engagement in the community and national initiatives. The Union also provides facilities for entertainment and sport, and ensures that other student needs are met. The Union provides training for student representatives, who are elected in each class. Union executive training is provided by the Executive Council, although there are hopes to link with established Western SUs who can offer guidance to the new KP body or organization and processes.
